Oh my lord, my last post was in November just before their first birthday party?! Aye yai yai, so much has changed and happened since then! The monkeys are now 17 months old (hence the title), running and getting into everything, starting to talk more, bite, hit, play ring-around-the-rosie, be pickier eaters, sleep thru the night, went to the dentist for the first time, and the list goes on and on.
We are now the parents of two toddlers, who love and adore each other as well as hate each other at the same time :) We have a time-out chair, toys everywhere, books everywhere, our carpet in the dining room is filthy from food throwing. I think I found a grey hair? Endless laundry, kisses and hugs, and diapers.
But all in all, we wouldn't change it for the world.
Oliver, you are definitely a mama's boy. You are such a ham and have a huge smile that lights up the room and shows off your teeth. You are our biter. You bite when you're overwhelmed with excitement and joy, and have bitten twice due to being frustrated. You've started talking a little more: snack, more, mama, dada, duh (dog), and you love our kitties to death even though they may not like you. You love your Louie (stuffed bulldog), two blankies, and your stuffed koalas. You rotate between carrying your blankie and koala to daycare and in the car. You are getting better with your separation anxiety, even though it started a few months ago. You seem to eat mostly anything we put in front of you except for ice cream.
Fiona, you are daddy's girl and a mini version of him. You observe and analyze things before going full speed ahead. You question everything by putting your hands in the air as if to say "where'd they go" or "what's this". You are our hitter. When you get mad or something is taken from you, you hit. Then we tell you gentle, and you rub so nice, just like you do to the kitty. You've become a bit more pickier, and we think it's because your top two molars just broke through and your bottom ones are on their way. You LOVE milk, LOVE it with a passion, just like mommy. You love your blankies (any blanket that is a muslin material, all of our swaddling blankets are her blankies) and will carry around and gather all 5 of them if you can. You also love your pacifier. We are working on only giving it to you in the car and for nap/night times.
Both are down to one nap a day at daycare, but on the weekends and the days they are not at daycare, they take a nap in the morning. NO BOTTLES!!!!!
