The monkeys had their six month appointment this past Monday. Whew, it's made for a long week of cranky monkeys. F was in the 50-75th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference. She weighs a whopping 16 pounds even. O was in the 50th percentile for everything and weighs 16 pounds, 9.5 ounces. They're both eating solid foods morning and night--squash, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, carrots. Neither liked peas or avocado. F loves her rice cereal. O hated rice cereal (white & brown) and oatmeal. He may have inherited my picky tastes :)
O got his first tooth yesterday! This definitely explains the crankiness in addition to getting shots on Monday. He definitely hasn't been his usual cheerful self, which I hope comes back soon. He hasn't wanted much food all week, just a bottle and he seems to enjoy chewing on the nipple more than actually eating :) He's a champ at rolling over from his back to his tummy, but seems to have forgotten how to roll the other way--which he did first! Go figure! He scoots around on his tummy and is getting darn close to army crawling/scooting. Time to baby proof even more!
F is close to getting her first tooth too--she's a drool monster. It doesn't help that I taught her how to blow raspberries. It's just too cute :) She loves her jumperoo and prefers to stand instead of sit. She is the queen of staring contests. Especially if it's someone she doesn't know. She will win--hands down :) She is also the champ of rolling from her back to tummy, and has yet to figure out how to roll back the other way.
Both love to sleep on their sides. If we check on them and they're on their tummy, we usually flip them over, otherwise they'll wake up in a hissy fit! Both are in bed and sleeping by 7 at the latest and only wake up once (or twice in Fiona's case if she pees a lot) and are up by 5:30 each morning so I can get them both fed and dressed (and myself too) and ready for daycare.
Speaking of Fiona's peeing....during the night she pees A LOT! She has absolutely soaked her diaper, her pj's--front and back--and the crib bedding. She may have inherited my small bladder. I wonder if they make overnight diapers for 6 month olds?
Ok, back to work. Until next time.

Five months and our first mother's day
Geez, I swore I'd try to keep up blogging and blog more often, more so I can look back and reflect on the little monkeys and how they've been growing. They passed five months old a week ago and are changing weekly. Both can now roll over from tummy to back and vice-versa. Both love to laugh and it's so easy to get them laughing and giggling. They love their jumperoo's and exersaucer and would rather sit up than lay on their backs or stomach. I think it's just so they can see everything that's going on in their world better :) O has been fighting us on going down for naps and bedtime, so lately we've been letting him CIO (it's soooo hard!) and last night he lasted 20 minutes before sleeping and he slept ALL NIGHT! F is so easy to put down...just give her the pacifier and she cuddles with her froggie and she's out in 5 minutes. I'm so thankful we only have one baby that's difficult to put down, not two! We can't determine if it's because he's teething or going through a "hold me" phase. I think it's a combo of both. Ok, back to work!

FOUR Months (and a week late)
Wow, how time flies! Our monkeys turned four months old last week and went for their check up (and shots) yesterday. O weighs in at 14 pounds, 3 ounces and F weighs in at 13 pounds 1 ounce. She's been battling diarrhea the past week, so we think she's lost a little weight, but is slowly getting over it. Darn sickness! I am so ready to rid our house of sickness. In the past two months, someone has been sick. GO AWAY!!!!
Happier news...doc said we can offer them rice cereal to see if they're interested in food from a spoon. This oughta be interesting. We'll try this weekend and see what they think :) O is able to roll over from his tummy to his back pretty easily (we think it's also because he's a bit round) and is getting up to his side from his back to his tummy. He talks up a storm and smiles at everyone and everything. He is such a ham! F is almost able to roll from her tummy to her back--she's sooooo close! She's starting to smile and talk more, but seems to take everything in, then will start laughing and can't stop. It's so cute.
Ok, gotta go back to work. I'll post pics and more soon.

Time Flies!
Wow how time flies by! The twins are almost 15 weeks old! We started sleep training this past weekend...man, it's rough sometimes. O has been steadily rolling over from his tummy to his back and gives big smiles afterwards as if he's saying "look what I did!". His smiles just melts heart and I can't get enough of them. F is almost there. She gets stuck on her side--hasn't quite figured out how to move her arm so she can finish rolling over. You have to work a little harder to get smiles out of her, but when you do, she's a grinning machine :) I am so loving this age as they're becoming more interactive and starting to grab toys. They both love Vegas (aka activity mat) which is full of flashing lights and sounds. Hence it's name :) plus its fun to say, "hey baby, lets go to Vegas!" I went back to work three weeks ago and they have adjusted great to daycare. Their teachers love having twins and everyone knows us since we're the baby twins :) there is an older set if twins that are 4, so we aren't the only ones. Ok, gotta go wake up O to eat.

Two months (and one week)
Wow, our monkeys are two months old! How time flies! They go for their shots tomorrow morning...not looking forward to that :( I'm anxious to see their stats and how they've grown in the past month.
We're working on getting them to nap in either the pack n play or their crib so they get used to sleeping horizontal. F has been doing much better than O and I'm not sure why. Maybe because she loves her pacifier and it instantly soothes her? Maybe I should introduce O to his security blanket we got for him--a lion :) we didn't want everything to be monkey themed.
I'll post more tomorrow after their appointment!

7 1/2 weeks
Did I really just type in 7 1/2 weeks?! Wow how time has flown by. The monkeys are growing everyday--they are becoming so aware of their surroundings and noticing bright colors and noises. The gripe water was a bust. They became so fussy and constipated, we went back to gas drops. Much better but we started giving F apple juice to help with the constipation and to see if she poops better. Ok gotta go to bed.

One Month (and 2 days)
Our little monkeys went in for their one-month appointment 2 days ago. F has gained two pounds from her birth weight! She now weighs 7 pounds, 6 ounces and is two inches longer! O is almost two pounds over his birth weight. He now weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces and is an inch and a half longer. Both were in the 25-50th percentile for height, weight and head circumference, which we are thrilled about. Both are now on soy formula and are doing well. F seems to be a bit grassier, so we are going to try gripe water to see if that works better than the gas drops.
